From Mystery to Legacy: The Story of Tinglewood in Orr Park
Back in 1993, a winter storm damaged numerous trees in Orr Park. Retired coal miner Tim Tingle helped with the storm clean up at the park and was inspired to give those old dead trees new life as pieces of art. His first carved creation was a horse head. More than 20 years later, he's carved 50+ trees and inspired the artistic community of Montevallo to create the Tinglewood Festival centered around wood carving and woodworking. Simply Southern Story
Red tingle (Eucalyptus jacksonii) is a magnificent tree found in a restricted area of the Warren region, famous for their enormous buttressed base. There are also two other species of tingle, Rate's and yellow tingle (Eucalyptus brevistylis and Eucalyptus guilfoylei) but only red tingle reaches enormous size.
